Remote data centre power and Restart
Industry
Digital infrastructure and data centres
Location
Texas, USA
Project type
Capacity increase and restart
Description
A private data centre developer needed immediate capacity for a cluster of facilities in a remote location with no near term grid interconnection. Global Coalition ran a mandate led introduction to align on site power, interim offtake and regulatory approvals.
Blocker
No available grid capacity for at least thirty six months, interconnection queue uncertainty, and investor timelines at risk.
Mandate
Define a regulator ready plan, present two or three on site power options, and secure commercial alignment with a credible offtake and assurance on permits.
What we did
Mapped the decision path across utility, county and state.
Curated three options: advanced microreactor vendor, gas engine microgrid with renewable natural gas, and battery backed turbine package with future grid tie in.
Introduced a regulated partner for capital introductions and structured an offtake backed contract for the interim solution.
Coordinated environmental filings and community engagement to keep schedule.
Outcome
Sponsor selected the gas engine microgrid with a transition path to future interconnection. Notice to proceed within ninety days, capacity delivered in phases, investor schedule preserved.
Our role was to act as an introducer and curator alongside the client and contracted providers. Delivery and legal responsibility remained with the project owner and counterparties. Details are anonymised and simplified for privacy. Fuller references are available under NDA. For any capital related elements we worked via or alongside regulated firms. We did not arrange or advise on investments.
